What are the specific eligibility requirements I should know before submitting an EOI?
As stated in the call for artists, only Black/Afro-diasporic artists (domestic and international) are eligible to apply for the exterior public art installation.
All artists (domestic and international) are eligible to apply for the interior public art installations. Though there is a preference for artists who have a local connection to the area.
Can I submit an EOI for both public art opportunities?
You may! However, please bear in mind that the exterior public art opportunity is open to Black/Afro-diasporic artists.
Can I submit an EOI if I am an emerging artist?
You may. Emerging artists are encouraged to apply for the interior public art opportunity. Please review the eligibility requirements and highlight. Your goals as an emerging artist in your submission.
Can I submit a collaborative project as an EOI?
Yes, collaborative submissions will be accepted for both the interior and exterior public art opportunity.
How will EOIs be evaluated?
EOIs will be evaluated based on eligibility (as outlined in the artist calls), the alignment of the artist(s) proposal with desired themes, the clarity of the artist(s), and the artist(s) experience, or ability to execute the project.
Please note that the interior public art opportunity is open to emerging artists with only some experience creating and implementing public art.
What happens after I submit my EOI?
After submission and the application deadline (March 20th, 2025) your EOI will be reviewed by a jury. If an artist(s) submission is successful, they will be invited to submit a more detailed proposal and be invited to participate in the community consultation stage of the selection process.
Where can I learn more about the themes the interior and exterior public arts should highlight?
You can find more information regarding themes in the Final Report and Infographic Summary. Both of these items contain crucial information on community perspectives of Lawrence Heights, and how these perspectives are interwoven with the major themes.
Can I submit work that has already been completed or do I need to propose a new project?
All project proposals must be new original works.
Is there a fee to submit an EOI?
There is no fee for submission.
How should I follow up if I haven’t received a response regarding the status of my EOI?
